Vicky Wright was born in Greater Manchester, UK and currently lives and works in London.

Wright grew up in a coal mining town, and her powerful paintings are inspired by her personal visions of inhumane working conditions, dusty air, and life and death cycles. Her paintings are often dark and muddy in color. Her subject matter reveals a darkness that is an inescapable part of life: death. She creates work to reveal the ills of society and to remind us of our connection to our surroundings.

Solo exhibitions include

  • Comma 14, Bloomberg SPACE, London (2009)

  • The Informants, Josh Lilley Gallery, London (2010)

  • The Garments of the Dominators, Josh Lilley Gallery, London (2012)

  •  She has exhibited her works widely including London, New York, Dublin, Vienna and Munich.
