Trudy Benson was born in Richmond Virginia in 1985 and currently lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.

Benson is inspired by the complexities of art in the digital age. She creates large scale abstract expressionist paintings by combining sculptural relief forms with smooth acrylic paint. Although her pieces are reminiscent of Microsoft Paint creations, the fact that they cannot be replicated or viewed on a screen reminds the viewer of the importance of creating and viewing art in the Information Age.
