Tomory Dodge (1974) was born in Denver, CO, and currently lives and works in Los Angeles.
His early paintings depicted scenes of wind-blown detritus in desert like settings, often exhibiting surreal or apocalyptic undertones while maintaining a sense of playfulness. His work has long placed an emphasis on materiality and has had a strong interest in the American West as well as human interaction with the environment. While continuing to hold these interests, Dodge’s work began to become more abstract beginning in the period of 2006 to 2008 and has continued to move in this direction. His work has been acquired by many public and private collections and he has been included in several publications on contemporary painting. Dodge has had 14 solo exhibitions in the past eight years.
