Pedro Reyes
Sundial, 2015
Sagaponack
Pedro Reyes was born in Mexico City in 1972, where he continues to live and work. He was the founder of “Torre De Los Vientos,” an experimental project space in Mexico City which operated from 1996-2002.
Reyes originally studied architecture, which has had a strong influence on his sculptures. He describes this work as a needle held by two fingers that casts a line on the palm of a hand. The shadow moves silent and even as the sun, telling time as it crosses the carvings of the stone.
Reyes is gaining a growing reputation for his socially-minded, collaborative and participatory artworks.
