Born in 1963 in Pasadena, CA, Pae White lives and works in Los Angeles.

White’s prolific and diverse oeuvre focuses on the forgotten, the fleeting and ephemeral of everyday life. Exploring different material forms and contexts, White’s practice is known for blurring the traditional and often nebulous boundaries between the fine and applied arts, architecture and design. Whether in the form of sculpture, site-specific installations, tapestries, animation, or painting, White’s works subverts viewers’ expected relationship to familiar objects, processes and spaces.

Her interest in the discrepancies and individuality of masterful yet hand-wrought production is demonstrated in this marble popcorn sculpture. The perishable and insignificant kernels are memorialized through this traditional and monumental material. White explores a variety of media and materials in her work and proposes a playful dialogue between the art object and the functional one. White merges art, design, and craft in works that transform ordinary materials.

White has established an international career with widespread critical acclaim.

She has exhibited extensively across the USA and internationally over the past twenty years, as well as undertaking high profile projects for the Venice Biennale in 2009 and Whitney Biennale in 2010, and numerous
