Doug Aitken was born in California in 1968 and currently lives and works in both California and New York. 

Aitken’s work includes photography, print media, sculpture, architectural interventions, narrative films, sound, single and multi-channel video works, installations, and live performance.

His artwork has been featured in numerous exhibitions around the world, in such institutions as the Whitney Museum of American Art, The Museum of Modern Art, the Vienna Secession, the Serpentine Gallery, and the Centre Georges Pompidou. He earned the International Prize at the Venice Biennale in 1999, along with numerous other awards.
