Angel Otero (b. 1981, Santurce, Puerto Rico) lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.
He is a visual artist best known for his process-based paintings. Much of his work is influenced by memories preserved in photographs and other family memorabilia, which he combines with the gestures of 20th century painting. His latest works highlight his innovative process of oil paint scraping. He first pains his work across glass and then once dry, he flays the dried paint and reconstructs the composition anew across large canvases.
